Reema Qamar, MA, RCC, CCC – Counselor/Therapist

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with experience in supporting clients navigate life challenges and mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, relational distress, stress and anger management, grief, and self-worth issues.

My role as a therapist is to support you in unravelling your journey while processing your traumatic experiences so you can integrate them into your awareness. I walk alongside you as you explore your concerns and past experiences so that you can identify maladaptive patterns that are no longer serving your best interest. This can help you gain clarity to broaden your perspective regarding your challenges and potential solutions while navigating through complexities so you can make well-informed decisions. With empathy and compassion, my focus is to support you in gaining a sense of empowerment and finding meaning in your experiences that help you gain a sense of acceptance, peace, and revitalization to shape your future with a positive mindset.

Treatment Approach

My counselling approach is deeply rooted in compassionate inquiry and empathy with a diverse set of therapeutic modalities. As I strive to tailor my treatment plan to suit each client’s unique needs, I draw from interventions based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), somatic experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness practices, and inner child work.

I know it takes trust and courage to be vulnerable and reach out for support to deal with the aftermath of painful experiences. We have all been through challenges in life and some of us have had painful experiences that started in childhood. As a second generation Canadian, I understand the struggles individuals and families face in navigating through value conflicts due to cultural integration and reaching out for connection and support can be difficult. I am committed to providing my clients with a safe and warm space to unpack, heal, reflect on their journey.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
